I was a resident at the academy. I had quite a few struggles, but all in all, they did help me a ton! I went in there straight from jail, and came out October 2018, 10 months being a resident. I now am sober 7months and ready to attack all my family and individual struggles face on. I will forever be thankful for my staff Lauren C, on Poplar, and Laura on aspen. They helped me in so many ways also Megan S. From hickory. I love y’all

I am a parent of an ECA client. They did a great job with routine, accountability, and self regulation.

ECA was better than living at home. Better than the group homes for adolescents, foster families, or Shelter Care. I got 3 square meals per day + snacks, activities off campus, and little chores/jobs to earn money. I was given safety, some education, regular doctor/dental visits, and therapy for a year and a half. How can that be repaid? Larry Paulzine was like a mentor to me when I was there. I've never met anyone wiser with a firmer grasp on reality. I called after I got out, got away from my parents, and got my life straight. I wanted to thank him. Going through the proper channels, ECA called me back to inform me Larry died of cancer. I said too little too late, but that place saved my life, so 5 stars, man.

Mixed stories ... home for troubled children, a lot from Milwaukee, or inner city regions. Heard working here is terrible.

I was at the academy for 9 months. I loved it. It helped me as a person. Staff member Tiffany on Cottonwood, listened to me and helped me succeed in my CBT. I worked in the kitchen for 7 months and left with about 400 dollars. Its not a terrible place. It needs a little work but if your willing to except your treatment they will help you!

I was here from April 8 2016-November 01 2016, and it wasn't terrible but not great either. Most of the reviews here are accurate, the over use of aggression and kids fighting 24/7. I was on Cottonwood (Unit 12) for most of my stay, and girls ran, attacked eachother and were on Self Harm almost every week. The unit next to us, Hickory was always in Chaos, with constant screaming through the day and night. The medicine that was dosed to us were not always needed or even meant to be crushed at ALL. Therapy hardly met my needs on a 1-1 basis, making me seem like I was the bad guy for one of my addictions, who, isn't even covered for females, but only males. Despite all of this negativity, the staff were respectful to me, Shout out to Becky, Unit Manager of Cottonwood for supporting me and other girls through our issues/disabilities/ trauma. -Isabelle 'Is' Grubb

I was in ECA in 2004-2006. In 2005, we had 3 run aways, one girl came back, the other got caught and the other was just an attempt to run. No one was killed. Just putting that out there.
